Blue Star Line shipping company chairman Professor Clive Palmer unveiled plans to construct a replica of the RMS Titanic last month, revealing blueprints and mock-ups for the vessel, which will sail on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in 2016.
The new version, dubbed Titanic II, will be designed by Finland-based marine design company Deltamarin.
The design of the ship will be as close to the original Titanic as modern safety standards permit.
